Give a flaming fire-breathing dragon to the fiery personality in your life. This is a bold card for birthdays, adventure, new beginnings, graduation, and fantasy: for Game of Thrones and Harry Potter fans. (P.S. Lots of dragon info below: if you’re interested, scroll down!)
Message you could write on card:
- Always be yourself. Unless you can be a Fire-Breathing Dragon. Then always be a Dragon.
- How many dragons does a girl have to slay to get some respect around here?
- Pressure creates diamonds. Fire refines gold.
- If the sky could dream, it would dream of Dragons.
- That’s the spirit-one: one part brave, three parts fool.
- Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons. For you are crunchy and taste good.
- A friend told me I was delusional. I almost fell off my dragon.
- My other ride is a dragon.
- You’re a hottie.
- Here there be dragons.
- If you can’t take the heat do not poke the dragon.
- Happy dragon dreams.
“What do you know about dragons?”
“They’re big, scaly, four-legged creatures with wings who terrorized small villages until a virgin was offered up as a sacrifice.”
His grinned again. “I do miss the virgins.”
~Katie MacAlister, You Slay Me
My armor is like tenfold shields, my teeth are swords, my claws spears,
the shock of my tail a thunderbolt, my wings a hurricane, and my breath death!
~J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit
My task is set before me, girl
My mission clear and true
There’ll be black knights and dragons, girl
But I will always come for you.

~Famous Last Words
Magical, spiritual, or supernatural, dragons are in ancient legends from all over the world and described in the Bible. Just because no modern reptile can breathe fire does not necessarily mean that none ever existed. In fact, various imaginative folks have proposed interesting and occasionally plausible mechanisms by which a dragon or dinosaur-like creature might actually have been able to breathe fire.
The Fire-Breathing Dragon Diet:
Dragons roast food before consumption. They are total carnivores, with a diet consisting entirely of meat. Dragons need to roast their prey with their fire-breath before consuming it—the only animals apart from humans who prefer cooked meat. Dragons can eat almost any kind of meat, anything from sheep to fish. Historical dragons ridden as beasts of war were known to eat fallen horses and even men on the battlefield. A fully grown Fire-Breathing Dragon could swallow a live horse whole.
Dragons have long serpentine bodies covered in scales, spines that run down their backs from head to tail, with proportionately long necks and tails. Their bodies have four limbs: two short back legs and two large wings as forelimbs, a body-plan similar to a bat. The teeth and claws of adult dragons are as long and sharp as swords.
And oaths to Daenerys from Game of Thrones:
“The next morning, when the flames have gone out and the ground has cooled down, Daenery’s new khalasar finds her amidst the ashes, naked but unharmed, holding three living dragons, the first dragons alive since 153 AC. They all kneel and swear their oaths to Daenerys, more loyal to her than they had ever been to Drogo.
