Orchid is our newest flower card (but it took months to design.)
For this card we chose the Phalaenopsis orchid, for its exotic tropical beauty.

Orchids symbolize thoughtfulness, refinement, fertility, beauty, charm, and love. They’re the perfect bloom to celebrate all of life’s precious moments. Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, birthdays, baby showers, weddings, love, engagement, anniversary, friendship, get well.
When given as a gift, they bestow good luck and prosperity. They can also symbolize a happy marriage and career, beauty, and strength.
Phalaenopsis Orchids Are Native To Southeast Asia
They are native to tropical regions of south-east asia, such as the Philippines, parts of Australia, Thailand, Taiwan and the Himalayas. The only place in the USA where they thrive in the outdoors is the southern tip of Florida, where they soak up the heat and humidity.
There is even an island off the coast of Taiwan which has been renamed Orchid Island due to the abundance of phalaenopsis orchids which grow there naturally.
They are ancient.
Phalaenopsis orchids were around when dinosaurs walked the earth! According to the fossil record, they could be as old as 100 million years old. Clearly they have incredible staying power.
