OPEN CARD NOW is the brainchild of Julie Brumlik – a dedicated creative who loves to explore the way things are made!
ABOUT JULIE
Julie Brumlik is a lifelong entrepreneurial creative who loves to read and travel. She has always managed to combine her entrepreneurial chops with her passion for social justice… and for things that are beautiful, culturally iconic and just plain cool!
Some of the sparklier parts of Julie’s resume include graduating from the Ecole de Cuisine Ritz Escoffier (and then feeding people from customers at Tour D’argent in Paris to Habitat for Humanity volunteers after Hurricane Andrew in Miami – and cooking free meals for neighbors every night during Pandemic year), opening the first ad agency in post-USSR Russia, being a digital typography maven in New York, and running a skin care company. In between, she bicycled in 100 countries, including a very long ride through southeast Asia in 2015.
Her focus – aside from elevating bike bummery to an art form – is searching out artisanal workshops during her travels. “I now know how coconuts are lacquered, how water buffalo horn eyeglasses are made, and how to pull coconut taffy.” says Julie. In the street markets of Vietnam she stumbled on the dazzling cards you see here… and immediately knew she had to share them with a larger audience. She visited workshops in Vietnam, met their artists, and learned how to design pop-up cards herself!
