Buddhism:
A Zen verse says, “May we exist in muddy water with purity, like a lotus. Rising above the mud to bloom requires great faith in oneself, in the practice, and in the Buddha’s teaching.”
In Buddhist art, a fully blooming lotus flower signifies enlightenment, while a closed bud represents a time before enlightenment. Our popup has two of each :)
The sacred lotus creates a relaxing sensation of euphoria, and increases vibrations of the heart.
Lotus Flowers
They are called the Flower of Life because of their association with the cycle of life, death, and rebirth.
The lotus is a beautiful flower that grows out of muddy ponds. Bringing the lotus and the koi together further represent pain, struggle, and growth. Just as the koi started as a little fish and grew into a strong dragon, the lotus starts out in a dirty pond but still becomes beautiful. After monsoon rains, Lotus Flowers grow upwards from the bottom of pools of water. So the flower came to represent immortality and resurrection.
Regardless of regional differences, cultures and religions, the lotus is always a positive symbol of purity, new beginnings, hope, clear thinking, endurance and long-lasting beauty.
What’s the difference between a Water Lily and a Lotus flower?
The biggest difference is that water lily leaves and flowers both float on the water’s surface while lotus leaves and flowers are emergent, or rise above the water’s surface.
