What is a Lucky Duck?
Just a guess, but many phrases only survive by virtue of a rhyming element: the “bees knees” is a good example. Clearly, in Lucky Duck, it’s the luck that’s important and the duck is thrown in for emphasis and rhyme. Many rhyming expressions come from Cockney English: “apples and pairs” for stairs is just one example of many.
Hope this helps!
Here are some (dumb) jokes too!
- Q: At what time does a D wake up? A: At the quack of dawn.
Q: What did Detective D say to his partner? A: “Let’s quack this case!”
Q: What did the D say when he dropped the dishes? A: “I hope I didn’t quack any!”
Q: What did the D say when the waitress came? A: Put it on my bill!
Q: What do you get when you put four ducks in a box? A: A box of quackers!
Q: Why are D’s bad drivers? A: Their windshields are qwacked.
