Racing:
Dragon boating is a team sport. A team is an entity. It has a life. It has a soul. The more people give of themselves to the team, the more victories that team will enjoy.
That moment when you’re paddling ahead of the other boats and you feel like flying, and you scream to victory as you cross the finish line. You also scream in your head things like: “I’m awesome!” “My team is awesome!” “I love my LIFE!”

There are 22 members in a standard Racing Dragon Boat, a steersman, a drummer, and 20 sailors. Sailors sit on both sides of the boat, 10 on each side to keep balance and row forward with the dragon boat paddle.
The steersman in the back guides the direction. The drummer beats the drum to encourage sailors and sync movement and frequency of the sailors’ paddling. The drummer is the soul of a dragon boat team: his beat guides the rowers to paddle through the water at high speed at a unified pace.
It’s a sport where you will be trained to be physically and mentally tough and then become as tough as everyone on the team.
Gift this dramatic card to your own team or to that special person in your life to say how much you appreciate working together.
Racing Dragon Boat history:
The history of the Racing Dragon Boat goes back over 2000 years in southern Asia. The earliest boat races were naval warfare training in ancient China. Training rowers in military tactics, especially in narrow and challenging waters, required coordinated, high-speed rowing. Thus military training led to the competitive sport of dragon boat racing.
Today, dragon boat racing is among the fastest growing of team water sports in the world, with millions of participants in various organizations and clubs in nearly 100 countries. The sport is recognized for the camaraderie, strength and endurance fostered amongst participants, and it has also become a very popular corporate and charitable sport.
